Privacy Policy
Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains, in plain language, what Find Mozart collects and why.
Who we are
Find Mozart connects students and families with vetted local music teachers for private lessons, orchestra programs, chamber music, and student performances. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
Account information: your name, email address, and password when you create an account as a student, parent, or teacher.
Profile information: details you choose to share, such as instruments, skill level, age group, teaching preferences, and — for teachers — credentials, certification proof, and application materials.
Lesson and booking information: lesson times, attendance, homework assignments, practice notes, and messages between students, teachers, and administrators.
Payment information: purchases are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number; we receive only the payment status, amount, and last four digits needed to confirm your purchase and pay teachers.
Student information: for students under 18, a parent or guardian manages the account and provides the information needed for lessons, performances, and orchestra or chamber participation.
Usage information: pages visited and buttons clicked, so we can understand how the site is used and improve it.
Google Calendar sync
Teachers may choose to connect their Google Calendar so lessons can be synced automatically. With your permission, we read calendar events to avoid scheduling conflicts and create, update, or delete the lesson events we place on your calendar.
We use this access only to provide the calendar sync feature. We do not read the content of unrelated events beyond what is needed to detect conflicts, and we never share your calendar data with other users or advertisers.
You can disconnect Google Calendar at any time from your Settings. Disconnecting stops all further sync; lesson events already created remain on your calendar until you delete them.
How we use information
To run lessons: scheduling, reminders, homework, progress milestones, and communication between students, teachers, and administrators.
To process payments and pay teachers for completed lessons.
To operate performances, orchestra, and chamber programs, including attendance and participant lists visible to authorized hosts and administrators.
To keep the platform safe: reviewing teacher applications, verifying credentials, and enforcing our community rules.
To improve the site through aggregate, non-identifying usage statistics.
What we share
Students and teachers see only what is needed for their lessons: names, instruments, schedules, and lesson notes. Contact details such as email addresses are not shown to other users.
We share payment information with Stripe to process purchases, and calendar information with Google only when a teacher connects their own calendar.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers.
We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of our users.
Children and students
Accounts for students under 18 are managed by a parent or guardian. Performance participation and comments are visible only to authorized hosts and administrators, and student names are masked in public views.
Your choices and rights
You can update your profile information at any time from your dashboard Settings.
You can disconnect Google Calendar, change your password, or request account deletion by contacting us.
You may request a copy of the information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it.
Data retention and security
We keep account and lesson records while your account is active and as needed for payment records and legal obligations. Homework and assignment history is retained so students and teachers can review past work.
We use industry-standard safeguards, including encrypted connections and access controls that limit who can see your information.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the updated version on this page with a new effective date. Continued use of Find Mozart after a change means you accept the updated policy.
